To Alpha and Beyond!

It's been quite a hectic time in Senior Production. Time flew by so fast. First we had midterms, then spring break, then GDC, and just now Alpha, with Beta coming up soon. The entire team has been hard at work trying to get the game finished.

A week or two ago, I finished the Golden Path of Neon Pompeii, the area I'm in charge in, and this was a huge step forwards for the game. With everything linked up, you can play through the entire game! Not everything is up to scratch, but it at least exists. Now, for the remainder of the time until Release Candidate 1 in April, I'm going to focus on polishing Neon Pompeii until it shines, as well as adding in side rooms, alternate routes, and challenge rooms. Here's an example:

For a casual player, they can just run along the bottom of the city, ignoring pretty much everything above street level. Everything above is an optional challenge. Taking the winding path up to the top left exit not only allows the player to skip and entire room, but also nets them a sweet frog. Of course, if the player enters the room from the top left after having climber up there the normal way, a locked door would prevent them from easily grabbing the frog. If the player wants to further challenge themselves, they can continue to the right along the top of the city, reaching an upper challenge area in the previous room. This one will be even more difficult, but with another sweet, sweet frog at the end. That challenge is whet I am currently working on.

Overall, things are going pretty smoothly. We all know what we have to do to make the best experience possible, we just have to make sure we actually do it. And I think my team can do it. Please look forwards to it!
